Milpitas residents: 65,000+
Milpitas is located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Because of the area’s cultural diversity, year-round temperate climate, natural beauty, and one of the highest standards of living in the country, it has long been considered one of the best places in the U.S. to live and work. Milpitas is centrally located, bordering San Jose to the south and San Francisco 45 miles to the north, with easy access to three major international airports. Despite its small size, Milpitas is home to more Fortune 500 companies than any other Bay Area city. The educational opportunities in the area include three major universities - Stanford University, Santa Clara University, and San Jose State University, in addition to a number of outstanding community colleges.
For sports and recreation, Silicon Valley provides innumerable options. The area is home to many championship golf courses as well as more than 25 parks covering over 50,000 acres of scenic lakes, streams, and miles of hiking and biking trails. There are several local sports teams including the San Jose Sharks, the only professional ice hockey team in Northern California. Also nearby is the renowned Tech Museum of Innovation, in addition to several museums and performing arts venues.
